I want to have some great words for him, and how much I enjoy Star Trek and his performance, but I just don't. I'm a little sad, and I am actually feeling bad for Shatner now.



An Icon has left, and I won't get to see him play Spock ever again.



Of course, I am self-reflective now, and I wonder what I'll be remembered for.



There's no way that when he started Star Trek that he thought it would be his legacy.



I really am just rambling. I'm sorry.

Yes! I am really looking forward to the new Star Trek Into Darkness movie coming out this summer, and JJ Abrams (who is normally pretty secretive) has a little to say about it:

"Relentless" they say- well, I'm hoping to see another action-packed, blockbuster, audience grabbing film that makes more and more people interested in the rest of the world of Star Trek-

Including: CAPTAIN KIRK'S GUIDE TO WOMEN- How To Romance Any Woman In The Galaxy, The finest gift for any Star Trek fan!

 The way I see it, the more people who see the big movies, the more likely it is that we'll see more and more Star Trek stuff happening, and I don't ever want it to go away.

 My cousin doesn't see it this way, but he just misses the old cast. I do too, and I WISH that Shatner would show up somehow! To me, he will always be the REAL Captain Kirk, but I have to admit that I liked Chris Pine in the last film.

 Anyway, I'm sure the general public will like this trailer, and the fanboys will be looking for more clues as to who everyone is playing, but I don't want to know!!

Dying Fan Gets Private Screening of ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’

So Star Trek has always been about what kind of awesome future we could have with people working together.

And hot chicks.

But even more so now, taking up the ritual is JJ Abrams, who (even though some people don’t really like him) is doing something cool. Real fans like me are excited and happy to see the new Star Trek sequel “Star Trek Into Darkness.”, but there’s a kid who has a terminal illness, and one of his dying wishes is to see the new film.

JJ Abrams is going to let him see a sneak showing so he can see it before he dies.

I mean, the whole idea of that is nuts, but I have to admit, if I knew I were dying (and aren’t we all?) I would definitely be feeling like I’d be missing out on that new Star Trek Into Darkness movie. Seems dumb, but I’m not the only one!

“Star Trek Into Darkness” delayed..

There have been production mess ups, so it got pushed back (into darkness?) so there’s even more anticipation. I went to see the 9 minute preview that they showed before The Hobbit, and I loved how exciting it was. I really look forward to it.

But for one fan named Dan, it was something more, as Dan has been diagnosed with a non-treatable form of cancer. On Christmas Day, his friends and family took to the internet, and posted his plea on Reddit.: Help get Dan an advance screening of “Star Trek Into Darkness.”

Whereas I’m sure there are people in the boardrooms of Paramount who would deny the request, no matter how much money they were offered:

For director J.J. Abrams, the good of the one outweighed the good of the boardroom!

“It was truly amazing that a filmmaker so secretive as J.J. Abrams was kind enough to show this to us,” Dan’s wife posted a few days ago. “It is also so wonderful for his friends & his family to finally hear some good news from us, they know how important film is to Daniel & could not think of a better way to please him. So this gesture really has brought a lot of smiles all around.

“It was a wonderful thing to see with Daniel and a wonderful thing to see Daniel enjoy – Making someone as ill as he is smile for any length of time really makes a difference. (At this point making me smile is good too),” she continued. “This is also so poignant as JJ Abrams took so much care in the first ‘Star Trek’ movie to at least TRY to get everything ‘right’ for the fans and we were so touched when he was concerned that we wouldn’t 100% enjoy the screening as it’s still being worked on……. Be assured we enjoyed it 110%!

“We are so grateful thank you, thank you, thank you….”

A great story to start the new year.

This weekend, they released the first 9 minutes of the movie with the IMAX showings of The Hobbit. I haven’t seen the first 9 minutes yet; this weekend we had a bunch of stuff to do and I still haven’t seen The Hobbit. I will have my review of that any day now, but for now…

It looks like the bad guy is in a Starfleet shirt, and I have been keeping myself away from all of the spoilers because I don’t wanna know! I just bought the Star Trek Comic books for my cousin, and I’ll probably read them before, but I promise not to spill the news!

I don’t know about you, but as the author of Captain Kirk’s Guide To Women, I am super-excited about seeing the new Star Trek movie!

New Star Trek Trailer is Out Of This World!

The New Star Trek Trailer from J.J. Abrams' New Star Trek movie ("Star Trek: Into Darkness") is available and online!

It sounds like Patrick Stewart is doing the voice over, and it looks like the guy from that New Sherlock show on BBC is the villian. I know, I know, I;m supposed to have researched all of this, and The New Star Trek trailer has been out ALL DAY, but I'm just getting around to posting this!

Now here's the really cool thing about the New Star Trek Trailer- There's ANOTHER one that is cut for the Japanese market, anad it's a few seconds longer... 12 seconds longer. It might not seem like a lot, but that's 20% longer! Was that really Vulcan of me?

Anyway, the last few frames of the longer cut is reminiscent of a certain scene in Wrath Of Khan... just saying my heart maybe skipped a beat or two- Check out this Japanese version of The New Star Trek Trailer:

Spock's Guide To Women- Assigning Logic To The Illogical

Many people know I have written a few books on love and marriage, but did you know that I am also an HUGE Star Trek fan, and have written about Kirk and Spock too?

 A lot of guys would like to be as smooth as Kirk when it comes to romancing a woman, but there are some guys who think the Science Officer on the bridge of the Enterprise has more swagger with the ladies... He is half-human and half-Vulcan. Caught between two worlds, Spock's mind is in constant battle between his cold Vulcan logic and his warm, Human emotions. While his heart pumps “green ice water,” it knows loyalty, friendship and passion.

Mr. Spock is a complicated officer.

Although his romantic experience is short, he makes up for it in technique, control, and logic. Unlike the passionate nature of the Casanova of the Cosmos Captain Kirk, Spock’s mode of operation is calculated, cold, and distant.

--And it makes some women crazier than a mental patient from the Tantalus Penal colony!

By using the strategy of “playing hard to get”, Spock presents himself as a challenge and a mystery. When he romances a woman (see Chapter 4- “Romulan Commander”) Spock remains aloof, all the while implying his interest. He lets his audience believe he is “Being Two Men” by showing his emotions (however controlled) to them. Mr. Spock lets some women believe that they understand him and know who he "really" is (See Chapters 3 and 5- “Christine Chapel” and “Leila Kalomi”).

 Although it’s been said that “Cupid’s arrow kills Vulcans,” let’s take a look at a few of the times that Spock has been struck in the free downloadable report I wrote here:

Obama gets Trekkie Cred hanging out with Nichelle Nichols...!

In case you haven't heard the story, Nichelle Nichols felt she wasn't doing much on Star Trek, and was going to quit the show. During that time, she was introduced to Martin Luther King Jr., who told her that she shouldn't leave the show because she was playing a black woman on TV and she wasn't a maid. She was playing our future- us working and living together as equals.

Well, many years later, to see this picture:

 Really brings the message home- Nichelle Nichols, standing with Barack Obama, the first Black President of the United States, holding up the Vulcan salute.

How cool is that?

Yeah, yeah- you've maybe seen this list before, but my friends Shawn and Mia Deluca got sent me this shirt, and I thought I'd wear it proudly at the next event I go to. Agree, or disagree?

William Shatner is MY Kirk.

I saw this picture here, and it just made me write this:

Look, I have no problem with Chris Pine, and the truth is I think he did a great job as "Kirk 2.0", and I even loved J.J. Abrams' reboot idea- I want the whole thing to succeed deliriously.

But William Shatner is MY Captain Kirk.

I used to not understand when my dad would say that he didn't like "those new James Bonds"; I was like "What's the big deal- it's the same character?" But it's not the same with Captain Kirk.

William Shatner is MY Captain Kirk.

And it's not just the supposed over-acting, and it's not some childhood nostalgia; Trek was already cancelled and in reruns when I stayed up late at night watching them under the covers on my portable TV. It was already a geeky thing when I came home from Bronx Science and watched the reruns as I waited for my mom to come home from work.

It's the passion that I saw in Captain Kirk's eyes.

Excuse me- It's the passion that I saw in SHATNER'S Captain Kirk's eyes.

Excuse me again- it's the passion that I SEE in Shatner's Captain Kirk's eyes.

The passion for friendship, for romance, and for justice. The passion that has reignited a career over and over again, and still brings people together to enjoy themselves in front of it.

The passion that makes a reboot with Chris Pine even possible.

So, I dedicate this blog, my love for Star Trek, and my love for Trekkies, to William Shatner-

MY Captain Kirk.
